No matter where we went, there we were. Until the day Jackson arrived on the scene. Now, it's his world and we just play in it. Although we do have an occasional date, and go to work, and talk in the first person plural.

Jackson's 15-month checkup

Jackson had his 15-month checkup last week. Here are his vital stats:

33.5 inches long (seems like tall would be more appropriate now that he stands)
26 lbs., 4 oz. weight

His height is 97th percentile and weight is 75th. His head circumference, which I can't recall but is something around 18 3/4 is up to 75th, too, whereas earlier it was lower than that.

The most outstanding aspect of the visit is that he was barely fazed by the shots. He's always done well with his shots. He would always cry, of course, but usually he would only cry for a couple or three minutes and then he would be fine. At his 12-month checkup, he cried till we opened the door of the exam room and walked out into the hallway. As soon as he saw the big clock there, he was distracted by it, said "clock!" and that was the end of the crying.

Well, this time, he had three shots to get. He started crying after the first one, then she quickly gave him the second and third. And within just a few seconds of the third and final shot, he had totally stopped crying. It was amazing -- I could barely believe my eyes (and ears). He just shrugged it off, like "is that all you got? That's nothing -- I barely felt it!"

So, needless to say, it was a huge relief for Dada!

Jackson's next checkup is at 18 months, and after that he doesn't go back till 2 years.

Here's a free bonus pic of Jackson and Mommy from May 13, 2006!

Jackson and Rowan, sittin' in a tree...

Jackson and his friend, Rowan (daughter of Amy and Jason). This may be Jackson's first kiss -- it is at least his first photographed one, I'm pretty sure.

Jackson's 9-Month Checkup

Jackson had his 9-month checkup today. He weighed in at 23 lbs and 5 ounces (good for 85th to 90th percentile) and was 30.5 inches long (an astounding 97th percentile!).

And he didn't even cry when the nurse pricked his finger to get some blood!

Way to go, little Jackson! Our little baby is growing up fast...

Jackson's stats from memory

Now I will try to record for posterity Jackson's stats at key points in his life so far. Luckily I can look down the page to get his 6-month stats; the others I will attempt from memory.
  • Birth: 7 lbs, 11 oz - 21 inches
  • 3 weeks: back up to his birth weight (what a relief!)
  • 1 month: 8 lbs, 9 oz (he was really starting to pack on the pounds at this point!)
  • 2 months: 11 lbs, 6 oz - 24 inches
  • 4 months: 17 lbs - 26.75 inches
  • 6 months: 19.5 lbs - 28.5 inches
On Monday li'l baby Jax has his 9-month checkup -- I can't believe it! It is so cliched to say it, but true nonetheless: the time has just flown by! Now I realize that it'll seem like a couple of blinks of the eye and he'll be a teenager like his big brother. It's just crazy how fast it is going...

Today Dina observed that his double chin (aka backup emergency chin) is starting to go away. Oh, not to worry -- it'll be there for a while yet -- but it is noticeably smaller than it was a month or two back.

Ecto: Non-Smoker Extraordinaire

Today makes 322 days since I last smoked a cigarette. That sounds so gross now, to even say "I smoked a cigarette."

Hurray for me!

Jackson can sit up now

Yesterday, Jackson started sitting up all on his own. He's been practicing for a little while now, but all of a sudden, he just got the hang of it. Last night at dinner, we sat him down in the middle of the dining room and he just sat down there with Mommy and Aunt CJ and had the best time ever.

Unfortunately, this morning he had a not so great time when Daddy let him fall over twice, once backwards and once sideways, hitting his bouncer seat in the process. So now I know to sit behind him, not in front of him, while he's still getting used to this strange new phenomenon.

Here's the photographic proof of his newfound talent:

Jackson's First Halloween

For his first Halloween, Jackson was a little blue monster.

Jackson's friend, Logan, and his Mommy, Susanne (and Jackson and Mommy of course!). Logan and Jackson are 2nd generation friends, since their Daddies have been friends for about 27 years now.

Jackson petered out right about the time the trick-or-treating got started.
